Solerian Calendar

The Solerian Calendar is an adaptation of the ancient Najimilid calendar, created by scholars of what would eventually become the Ortesian Empire.   Although there is some tension among the other cultures of Soleria with regard to using what is essentially the Ortesian Calendar, it's creation and widespread adoption prior to the existence of the Empire has created an apathetic comfort to the political implications of it's continued use. Some proposed laws in the Florentine Republic aim to modify or entirely replace the Solerian Calendar, but other issues have taken precedence and these legal proposals have essentially become dead in the water.   The Solerian Calendar is broken into eleven months, each consisting of either twenty eight or twenty nine days, save for the month in the middle of the year which comes to thirty days. This is identical to the layout of the ancient Najmilid calendar, and in all effects is a rebranding exercise conducted in what is believed to be an effort at initial cultural coalescence with the intent of nation-building, though these claims have yet to conjure any conclusive proof. The months are as follows;
  1. Strella ("Streh-yah", from the Ortesian word for Star. 28 days.)
  2. Mans ("Mahnz", from the Ortesian word for Hand. 29 days.)
  3. Ninz ("Neenz", from the Ortesian word for Infant or Child. 28 days.)
  4. Made ("Mah-deh", from the Ortesian word for Mother. 29 days.)
  5. Pare ("Pah-reh", from the Ortesian word for Partner. 28 days.)
  6. Espiro ("Eh-spee-roh", from the Ortesian word for Spiral or Center. 30 days.)
  7. Blinda ("Bleen-dah", from the Ortesian word for Shield. 29 days.)
  8. Espa ("Eh-spah", from the Ortesian word for Sword. 28 days.)
  9. Fleisha ("Flay-shah", from the Ortesian word for Arrow or Bolt. 29 days.)
  10. Torre ("Toh-rreh", from the Ortesian word for Tower. 28 days.)
  11. Krea ("Kreh-ah", from the Ortesian word for Create. 29 days.)
There are six days in the week, taken from some of the names of the months. They are named as follows;
  1. Stredia ("Streh-dee-ah")
  2. Nindia ("Neen-dee-ah")
  3. Madia ("Mah-dee-ah")
  4. Pardia ("Parr-dee-ah")
  5. Tordia ("Torr-dee-ah")
  6. Kredia ("Kreh-dee-ah")
