Twin Souls

Among the daeodren, most children are born alone, but very rarely, two babies are born at once. The daeodren consider those born this way to be 'Twin Souled' or 'Twin Souls', that is to be one spirit that inhabits two bodies. Twin Souls are often treated as one single entity in daeodren culture. They are kept together as infants, often sleep in a single room, sometimes even a single bed from the age of six months onward. They are educated together, given equal ranking in social positions regardless of gender, and are even allowed to hold the same position or job. In matters of marriage, Twin Souls are also often considered a single being, and it is not uncommon to find both twins married to the respective spouce, regardless of genders or sexual orientations. Children born of one Twin Soul are considered to be born of both, making it socially acceptable for the male of boy/girl Twin Souls to grow and maintain a beard should his sister bare a child, or two male twins to both grow and maintain a beard upon their first child being born. 

Daeodren born as twins also visibly stand out from other daeodren due to their vibrant eye color, usualy bright blue or green, and bright red hair. Heterochromia (that is having two different colored eyes) is also highly common among Twin Souls, with the color difference often mirrored in each.

Most Twin Souls will remain in the same Nestal in which they were born, living there until death. In rare cases, both will choose to leave, either moving to a new nestal, or leaving the Choralis Savannah entirely to live among other races and cultures. Interestingly, Twin Souls who choose to leave do not incure the social ranking of Farrost (that is an outsider of daeodren culture. See Farrost)
