Aedlin Travail
The man responsible for one of the most brutal military campaigns in recorded history
Admiral Adelin Cassio Leon Travail (a.k.a. The Butcher of Savara)
The total destruction of a planet will see them lose their nerve, it is best we do so now before they have been given a chance to regroup. You will see Commander, this move will save lives and we will be regarded as heroes of war. Begin the bombardment.
Adelin Cassio Leon Travail, better known by the moniker the 'Butcher of Savara', was a Human Jeraci Admiral of the Imperial Navy of Jerace during the 40th and 41st centuries, where he notably fought in the 2nd Galactical War. During the War, he served under Imperial Admiral of the Fleets Lana Flynn, mostly during the Inner Sector Campaign, where he became infamous for his brutal tactics against Federation Military forces, and armageddon style of warfare against civilians. Widely regarded as one of the worst war criminals in Galactic History, Travail is near-universally reviled, even to the successors of the Imperial Republic he once faithfully served.
Despite his actions during the war, Travail was considered among the most effective and efficient naval commanders of either side. It was this effectiveness that allowed him to continue his role, even as his commanders and underlings directly lobbied for his dismissal. Eventually, however, his crimes would catch up to him, with agents of the Governmental Arm of National Intelligence orchestrating his assassination, with assistance from rogue elements of Jeraci Domestic Intelligence. His death proved a decisive blow against Jeraci war efforts, especially in the Invasion of Iomhare.
Early Life
A victim of circumstance perhaps, but does the admittedly brutal murder of those you love ever justify inflicting that same pain on others? I would suggest we refrain from trying to ever defend a war criminal, for that is all he ever was, no matter how his life may have began.
Aedlin was born on Jastarc, controlled by the despotic and failing Republic of Mariena in 3945 AC. Despite the issues plaguing the nation, including a complete economic and political collapse, Aedlin grew up relatively sheltered, unaware of the violence often occuring just outside his small home. His parents, engineers by trade, doing everything in their power to keep him safe and confined from that outside world, homeschooling him and his younger sister, and keeping to a strict curfew.
By the time Aedlin was 12, the situation in the Republic reached its boiling point. Seeking an immediate end to the threat directly on their borders, the 3rd Imperial Republic of Jerace and Federation of Anfieden and Allied Planets declared a joint war against the Mariena Republic. With Jastarc sitting on the Federation's doorstep, the Federation Navy and Army took charge of conquering the planet, engaging in a lightning war against what little resistance the Mariena Republic could muster. Aedlin's parents and younger sister, would all be horrifically injured during a missile strike during this lightning war, although Aedlin made it through relatively unscaved. The arrival of Federation Marines, and their subsequent mercy killings of Aedlin's family would awaken something dark inside the young boy, and gave him an eternal hatred for the Federation in all its forms.
Hey kid, come 'ere, you got a name?
The young Aedlin quickly ran from the Marines, emotionally scarred for life, searching for any chance of escape. By virtue of his small stature, he managed to sneak into the Planetary Spaceport, even as it was on high alert and occupied by Federation forces, and snuck aboard a vessel at random. Unbeknowst to him, Adelin had just entered the IJDS Moneyye, currently being used by Jeraci diplomat ___, to coerce with Federation forces, and to accept the surrender of Mariena forces during the joint invasion.
