Fall of an Empire

From the ashes of the old, come the new

The Fall of an Empire is a famous painting created by the Imperial Painter to the Apalaryan Monarchs of the Empire of Apalareas, Ceri Cadagin in 3217 AC. The painting depicts the retreat of forces loyal to the 1st Imperial Republic of Jerace from the Apreasean planet Beddlen, as its citizens celebrate. Heavily armed Jeraci troops are directly juxtaposed with Apreaseans wearing civilian clothing, as waving banners are flown by the now-free citizens of Beddlen.   Intended as both an instrument of political propaganda for the monarchy in the form of patriotism and a direct critique of monarchism, the painting is studied by nearly all aspiring artists seeking to hone their craft and deliver powerful messages. The duality of its message has made the painting controversial in some circles, but is nonetheless considered among the greatest works of art Humanity has ever produced. The painting was lost in 3412 AC, three years following the fall of the Empire of Apalareas.
