The Jelran Defence Fleet is a Federation Navy Defence Squadron, assigned to the greater Iomhare Defence Fleet. The Jelran Defence Fleet is the largest such squadron of the Iomhare Force. It is dedicated solely to the protection of the star system of Jelran, and the Federation's de-facto capital world of Envis.
Usually comparable in size to a small System Fleet, the Jelran Defence Fleet is an important part of the Federation's defensive strategies across the Galaxy of Astraesto. While the Fleet has never engaged in formal action between two Galactic powers since its formation in 4225 AC, it has attacked and been attacked by numerous groups.
Most famously, the Fleet's permanent blockade of Envis was broken, when the FNV Porter, piloted by hijackers pledging allegiance to the Union of Praebia, and Greater Jenmoreneat, opened fire on the City of Envien. The resulting tragedy caused the deaths of tens of millions, with the Fleet unable to engage, as the direct destruction of any ships within the planet's atmosphere could kills hundreds of millions.
