In the dead of night, when all are sleeping, the giant makes its way to civilization. None but birds see it past, as it takes lumbering steps through the deserted streets. On its face, the beast sheds a single tear, before moving ever onwards through that village...
-Excerpt from The Arog and Death
The
Arog and Death is the name of an urban legend unique to
Anfieden. Its primary focus is on the titular
Arog, who is venturing through a deserted piece of human civilization - depending on the version. As the Arog observes human civilization, it does not understand why humans wish to strike down the Arog, and eventually comes to the conclusion that humanity is an agent of death itself.
It was one of several pro-Arog urban legends that arose during the species extinction by
Humanity. At one point, an entire version of the legend was read out in Anfieden's Senate, by those who wished to see the species live on - even if they posed a significant hurdle to Anfieden's growth.
At least 27 versions of the legend have been recorded, spread across the entire planet. No such interaction with an Arog has ever been recorded, and the actions and thoughts of the Arog are far beyond any known members of that species. The exact origins of the myth are unknown, though it most often believed to have been the work of a writer on a online forum, where it then spread through word of mouth between residents of Anfeiden.
