Without Hope

Missile flew past like lightning, their speed instant, and their impact powerful. Though interceptors and barrages of kinetic fire rose to meet them, nothing could stop them. An entire army, surrounded, outgunned, outmanned. Without naval support, limited air support. The situation was hopeless, the situation was unwinnable, and all of them knew it. Yet they fought anyway. Desperate to strike any blow they could against that tyrannical empire that had invaded their homes.
