5.1 - Floran

¤ Characteristics = Florans, one of the most feral species within this sector. Indeed, this species is known for their short temper and impressive physical abilities, Florans are excellent melee fighters and possess a sort of biological trait inherent to plants that allows them to perform photosynthesis, this allows them to regenerate and heal small injuries if they are fully fed during the day. These plant folk remain dangerous as they are almost constantly hungry and tend to eat raw meat (Doc. Natyu : “They’ll go for any meat… Yeah, even yours, dear reader !”), but they can be easily fended off through the use of fire. A Floran’s lifestyle is usually centered around their stomach, which is understandable when considering the fact that their average lifespan only goes up to 50 years. All in all, the Florans are a curious and volatile species that prey both on scraps and flesh, however, some sightings of Florans that can hold their instincts at bay have been reported. Perhaps it is time for them to actually join the galactic scene as a less violent race.

¤ Origins = These Plant folk originated from an old planet believed to be Primeval in nature. The name of the system along with the planet’s location were forgotten, even to its own people due to unknown circumstances. The Florans’ origins are shrouded by a thick veil of mystery and mysticism. Indeed, some people among the Vel’uuish believe that their species and the Florans originated from the same planet and are therefore linked spiritually. Of course, the Floran Tribes do not care about such claims and prefer to focus on their daily lives rather than worry about the past. (Doc. Natyu : “Truly a species living in the heat of the moment without looking towards the future or the past… A bit like me during my school years now that I think about it.”)

¤ Situation = The Florans do not have an actual nation or anything of the sort, they only have their numerous tribes spread out all over the galaxy, these tribes are all connected to one major tribe. Any political agreement and/or decisions are directed to the leading tribe. The leadership changes depending on the winner of the Frenzy Trials, a compilation of trials that every champion must go through while fighting other champions. Each tribe gets to choose one champion and hope that they win in order for them to take leadership of the Floran Tribefolk as a whole. Their political situation is relatively stable even after the destruction of the Terrene Protectorate, which shows that they weren’t as invested in it as the other races.

¤ Specialty = Florans do not have a specialty of their own aside from their hunting methods. Indeed, the few Florans that travel the stars either made their ships out of scrap or stole it from another crew. Their weapons are quite primitive and use bones as the main material. But we have to give credit where it is due, Florans are good learners thanks to their innate curiosity, this allows them to easily catch up to most races in terms of knowledge.
