Occasus Cult
The Occasus Cult is a religious order that worships the Ruin in all its forms. As far as the current people of the Galaxy know, the Cult officially emerged in 316 A.F, 25 years before the Moreta Quadrant's exploration by the many factions of the Milky Way. However, it is known to beings that lived during the Old Age of Magic, eons ago, that the Cult was very much present under a different name.
The Cult of this Age is fractured into multiple Syndicates all spread throughout the Galaxy, 4 of them being particularly prominent among more numerous minor Syndicates :
- The Arbiters : A syndicate that prioritizes developing new technologies and ways to spread the Ruin's Gift. Their leadership is composed of a single individual, a Hylotl to be exact, and their overall aesthetic is closer to that of researchers than actual cultists.
Important Notes : The Ruin Fragments were originally developed by this Syndicate before eventually spreading off to other Syndicates, but the Ruin Fragments remain unknown to most people outside of the Cult, for they are extremely secluded, and for someone to know about their existence would require them to venture deep into Cultist territory. The brunt of their forces is situated in the Ordel Quadrant, but there are smaller outposts and groups all around the Galaxy. - The Marauders : A syndicate of overly violent and militaristic individuals who specialize in fleet battles as well as hijacking both spacecraft and installations alike. Their leadership is also composed of a single Tenebhrae named Noïer. Their overall aesthetic is very much navy-inspired.
Important Notes : More than half of the current fleets owned by this Syndicates are old Protectorate fleets hijacked by the Cult following the collapse of the Terrene Protectorate. The brunt of their forces is situated in the Apoctum Quadrant and is slowly moving towards the Ordel Quadrant. - The Black Knights : A syndicate of mysterious and mostly mute knights clad in blackened bone armor who are often hunting down facilities storing or protecting the Ruin. Their leadership is a mystery in itself and their overall aesthetic is that of medieval knights equipped with full-plate armor made of penumbrite and black bones assumed to come from the Ruin itself.
Important Notes : While not much is known of this Syndicate, they have many times been referred to as the "Rot-Guard of the Ruin" and spend most of their time on Atropus Worlds without expanding to other worlds. The brunt of their forces moves all across the Galaxy but always comes back to the fringe space of the Unima Quadrant, around the Outer Belt. - The Jesterians : A syndicate of lunatics wanting nothing but to spread the madness of the Ruin through manipulation of certain political parties and enslavement throughout the Galaxy. Their leadership is composed of multiple Chiefs, each leading smaller insurrections. One such Chief is Rezmar, one of the first Ruin Fragments created by the Arbiters in a joint operation. As for their overall aesthetic, the Jesterians wear eccentric clothing that gets stranger for the higher-ranked Cultists.
Important Notes : While the Jesterians are the most spread out Syndicate, they remain powerful due to their information network and their neutrality relating to inner fights among Syndicates. Their forces do not have a specific Quadrant which they inhabit.
