176: Atop the Mountain

General Summary

Introduction
Driven by a quest to discover his own internal heroism, Tsaren Dawa sought to destroy an evil artifact and uncover the strength of his heroic bloodline. Turning his back on the lonesome shattered mountain, he joined his peers and friends in a journey of glorious heroics.
The Trial of Caiden Cailean
Reaching out to the god Caiden Cailean, the orc learned of a trial set upon the land. This trial was designed to test and strengthen the will and talents of those brave enough to face it, helping them to discover their greater selves. The trial involved climbing a great mountain and achieving its summit—a seemingly simple affair but a significant test even for experienced adventurers. The Trials
The Black Knight's Challenge
The first trial was a mental challenge, presented by a Black Knight who guarded a bridge. This condescending and challenging knight had the gift of immortality and would only allow those who solved his riddles to pass. This trial was meant to test the adventurers' ability to approach situations without violence and to ensure that only the capable could proceed.
The Horde of Monsters
The second trial required significant amounts of violence. The adventurers faced hordes of monsters, massive and embodying various divine servitors of the planes. Despite the overwhelming numbers, the clever and capable adventurers quickly and holistically dealt with these foes.
The Waters of Reflection
The final trial was a test of self. By the waters that reflected the inner nature of a creature, the adventurers faced an attempt to sway them into a defiled state of mind. This test aimed to make them give up their path of light and benevolence in favor of darker impulses. Any creature swayed in such a fashion would fall into a darker state and be denied the benefits of the sacred pool.
Tsaren Dawa's Test
Tsaren Dawa received the primary test, facing challenges from his ancestors three times. Despite the dark influences that once tainted his bloodline, he resisted these impulses and displayed traits befitting a great hero. Overcoming his tests, he was not found wanting by his ancestors.
The Blessing and the Cursed Artifact
Having successfully completed the trials, Tsaren Dawa received access to the blessings of the pool. He threw the cursed artifact away, which was shattered under the bombardment of divine energies. With this blessing, Tsaren and his companions would carry the Mark of Glory within them, aiding them whenever they next faced the darkness of the abyss and the world around them.
Conclusion
Tsaren Dawa's journey to discover his internal heroism and destroy the evil artifact was a testament to his strength and resilience. By completing the trials set by Caiden Cailean and overcoming the challenges posed by his own bloodline, he and his companions emerged stronger and more prepared to face the darkness.
