Cosmology

An endless sea of stars
A world of wonder and of scars
Where magic flows and legends rise
And heroes face their destinies
Look up and see the night sky shine
With countless lights of every kind
Each one a story, each one a name
Each one a part of worldwide fame
There is the Sun, the source of life
The giver of warmth and of light
But also the bringer of death and of fire
When it grows angry or when it retires
There is the Moon, the guardian of night
The watcher of dreams and of fright
But also the changer of tides and of moods
When it waxes and wanes or when it renews
There are the Twins, the two bright stars
The lovers of fate and of scars
But also the rulers of time and of space
When they align or when they embrace
There are the Eyes, the four red dots
The seekers of truth and of plots
But also the spies of secrets and of lies
When they blink or when they disguise
There are the Wings, the six blue streaks
The flyers of freedom and of peaks
But also the hunters of prey and of thrill
When they soar or when they kill
There are the Teeth, the eight white spikes
The fighters of honor and of strikes
But also the warriors of blood and of steel
When they clash or when they heal
There are the Scales, the ten green curves
The balancers of justice and of nerves
But also the judges of right and of wrong
When they weigh or when they belong
These are some of the celestial bodies
That grace the night sky of the world
Each one a song, each one a star
Each one a part of our great lore

The Sun

The Sun is the most critical and powerful celestial body in Astralaria. For many, especially those who are faithful Luminaries, it is believed to be the source of all life and magic but also of destruction and chaos. The Sun has a cycle of four phases: dawn, noon, dusk, and night. Each phase lasts for six hours and affects the world in different ways. During dawn, the Sun is gentle and benevolent and grants blessings and healing to those who pray. During noon, the Sun is fierce and radiant, giving strength and courage to those fighting for it. During dusk, the Sun is angry and vengeful and grants curses and fire to those who defy it. At night, the Sun is absent and silent and grants nothing to anyone. The Sun is worshipped by many cultures and races, especially humans, who believe that they are the chosen children of the Sun. The Sun is also feared by many, especially the undead, who are harmed by its light.

The Moon

The Moon is the second most important and influential celestial body in Astralaria. It is the guardian of the night and the watcher of dreams, but also of the changer of tides and moods. The Moon has a cycle of eight phases: new, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full, waning gibbous, third quarter, and waning crescent. Each phase lasts for three days and affects the world in different ways. During the new Moon, the Moon is invisible and mysterious and grants stealth and secrets to those who seek it. During the waxing phases, the Moon grows hopeful and gives growth and creativity to those who follow it. During the full Moon, the Moon is bright and glorious and grants power and madness to those who embrace it. During the waning phases, the Moon is shrinking and melancholic, granting decay and wisdom to those who accept it. The Moon is worshipped by many cultures and races, especially the elves, who believe that they are the beloved kin of the Moon. The Moon is also revered by many, especially the werewolves, who are transformed by its light.

The Twins

The Twins are the two brightest stars in the night sky of Astralaria. They are the lovers of fate and scars but also the rulers of time and space. The Twins have a cycle of twelve months, each named after a zodiac sign. Each month lasts for thirty days and affects the world in different ways. Each month, the Twins are in various positions in the sky and form different constellations from other stars. The position and constellation of the Twins determine the personality and destiny of those born under them. The Twins are worshipped by many cultures and races, especially the halflings, who believe that they are the lucky siblings of the Twins. The Twins are also admired by many, especially the astrologers, who are guided by their light.

The Eyes

The Eyes are the four red dots in the night sky of Astralaria. They are the seekers of truth and plots and the spies of secrets and lies. The Eyes have a cycle of four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Each season lasts for ninety days and affects the world in different ways. During each season, the Eyes are in a distant sky quadrant and observe another world region. The quadrant and area of the Eyes determine the events and intrigues that happen in them. The Eyes are worshipped by many cultures and races, especially the gnomes, who believe that they are the curious cousins of the Eyes. The Eyes are also feared by many, especially the rogues, who are exposed to their light.

The Wings

The Wings are the six blue streaks in the night sky of Astralaria. They are the flyers of freedom, peaks, but also the hunters of prey and thrill. The Wings have a cycle of six days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Each day lasts for twenty-four hours and affects the world in different ways. Each day, the wings are at different angles in the sky and fly in different directions. The angle and direction of the Wings determine the weather and mood of the world. The Wings are worshipped by many cultures and races, especially the aarakocra, who believe that they are the winged friends of the Wings. The Wings are also envied by many, especially the dragons, who are challenged by their light.

The Teeth

The Teeth are the eight white spikes in the night sky of Astralaria. They are the fighters of honor and strikes and warriors of blood and steel. The Teeth have a cycle of eight hours: morning, afternoon, evening, and night. Each hour lasts for three hours and affects the world in different ways. During each hour, the Teeth are at an extra height in the sky and point in another direction. The height and direction of the Teeth determine the combat and strategy of the world. The Teeth are worshipped by many cultures and races, especially the orcs, who believe that they are the fierce brothers of the Teeth. The Teeth are also respected by many, especially the knights, who are inspired by their light.

The Scales

The Scales are the ten green curves in the night sky of Astralaria. They are the balancers of justice and nerves and the judges of right and wrong. The Scales have a cycle of ten minutes: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten. Each minute lasts for six seconds and affects the world in different ways. During each minute, the Scales are in a different balance of the sky and tilt in another direction. The Scales' balance and direction determine the world's law and morality. The Scales are worshipped by many cultures and races, especially the tieflings, who believe that they are the fair sisters of the Scales. The Scales are also distrusted by many, especially the thieves, who are judged by their light.
