Alchemy

Alchemy is considered to be the most ancient branch of natural philosophy that originated in the Gigantomachy and Resonanz empires, and ancient human world.   Alchemists would attempt to purify, mature, and perfect certain materials. The most common of these efforts was to transmute lesser materials into greater materials, with the most known example being the transformation of lead to gold. Other efforts were to create the elixir of immortality, and the creation of super drugs whose effects were able to cure any disease or ailment. The perfection of the entire human body, including the soul, was the alchemical magnum opus and coincided with the mythic Philosopher's Stone, whose supposed ability to turn lesser metals into noble metals was unrivaled - according to alchemists and fortune seekers.   The Gigantomachy and Resonanz empires would establish laboratories, scientific techniques, theories, and terms which are all still in use today, while the human alchemists proposed the idea that everything is comprised of the four base elements, and they tended to guard their work in secrecy, often making use of cyphers and cryptic symbology.
