Hunting the Arch Magus pt. 15 Report

General Summary

The Scions managed to grab Iowen's staff and defend Chandrilla long enough to dispel the wards on the Arch Magus's phylactery.  With his phylactery destroyed, the Arch Magus is defeated, turning back into his elven form and lamenting that it was his destiny to defeat the curse.  He congratulates Rayuuv, the new Arch Magus, and lets out one final evil laugh before expiring.
Rayuuv hears a voice in his head - one final warning from the Arch Magus taunting Rayuuv, letting him know he will now hear the voices and they can't be stopped.
The Scions are treated as heroes for the next few weeks, both for defeating the Arch Magus and saving the Temple of Krom.  During the festivities Chandrilla strikes a deal with Gaius Alexandrius, the new commander of Krom's paladins.  They agree to leave the city, move the statue of Krom to the temple's interior, and erect a statue of Dralin in its place.  In return, Chandrilla agrees to execute the other members of the council for necromancy, heresy, and treason.  In one fell swoop, she has consolidated her power over Nikea.
At the funeral Chandrilla praises Dralin for his heroism, saying that despite their differences he always pursued justice the only way he knew how.  The Scions run into some familiar faces the funeral - Silas greets the party, and tells them the emperor is moving south towards Haversmeet, and that he can use their assistance.  Claudius also greets the Scions, and lets them know that Monterra is having issues - there's a kobold crack epidemic and the price of alcohol has skyrocketed due to Abraxis's bottomless thirst.  Armies for both the Brotherhood and the Black Brigade have been spotted, and it seems they're on the move.
The Scions decide to head to Monterra to address the kobold crack epidemic.
