Bloodrune Magic

Developed by the dark wizard Kasius Darkshroud sometime in the 10th century, bloodrunes are a dark and mysterious arcane energy source. The secrets of their creation have been lost to the ages, but it is known that when wet with blood they are able to increase the strength and power of magical energies by a practically limitless margin. Through the use of these bloodrunes, Darkshroud was able to rapidly establish a series of teleportation circles that allowed him to conquer much of the Vanalian Coast. After his defeat by a group of adventurers, the secrets of his bloodrunes were lost with the collapse of his empire. Today there are only five known bloodrunes in existence, currently on display in the Great Arcaneum of Alcaster.
