Elar

Elar, sometimes called the Shattermoon, is the larger and closer of Eira's two moons.
In YEAR, an immensely powerful spell cast by the Déonian battlemage Erolith ripped the moon in half and called down dozens of the resulting fragments to the earth. Upon Erolith's death the spell ended and the fragments of Elar that were still in transit froze in place, creating a trail of celestial rocks known as Liaden's Ladder.
