Winter's Light

Winter's Light is a Räsgardic holiday celebrated on the winter solstice. As part of the celebration, each household within the empire extinguishes every flame within their home before proceeding to a central location within their community. There, at midnight, a great fire is ignited and each household lights a torch from it to rekindle their household's hearths.
While the Lighting Ceremony is seen as a somber event, the festivities that follow are commonly regarded as wild and festive. Perhaps the largest Winter's Light celebration is the annual Winter Jubilee in Alcaster. It was at one of these festivals in the year 1828IR that the famous adventuring group the Jubilee Brigade formed, eventually crediting the celebration in their name.
