The Crying God (a.k.a. He Who Endures)

Ilmater is the god of suffering and perseverance. He is known for his compassion, offering kind words and support to those who are in pain or great need. He takes their place as a willing sufferer, to carry another's burden and to bear their pain.
Depictions of Ilmater's avatar are often rendered as a plain looking man with a kind face, wearing only a breechcloth. His body bears many marks of mutilation and torture, with scars, open wounds, burns, and broken limbs that can only be moved through great pain.

Followers of Ilmater

• Priests of Ilmater are devoted to helping those who are suffering. They tend to the ill and injured, feed the hungry, and donate what they can to support the poor. They are often seen wearing the barest of fashions, often simple thin shirts and fur coats on their bare flesh, as any riches and adornments are for those more in need.
• It is considered a huge taboo to harm priests of Ilmater, as they are dedicated to the wellbeing of all. Even other races and cultures that do not directly worship Ilmater recognize that his followers are peaceful and provide valuable services.
• Followers of Ilmater also believe it is their duty to help end the conditions that are causing suffering and are willing to use force to do so.
