Session 21 Report
General Summary
Taking their leave of Commander Darmody with the promise of hearing further from him, the party visits the Wall Market to seek the advice of their wizard Mathesius to ask about a possible cure for the ailment affecting Lephnut, information on the mysterious ring they hold, and supplies. Unfortunately, the wizard is apparently out enjoying himself at happy hour and they have to bide their time in the store waiting.
Big Richard explores the jewelry section in an attempt to dress himself more appropriately. As with other endeavors, he name drops Rembrandt and finds that the jewelry saleswoman also loves Rembrandt, of "Remy" as she affectionately refers to him. She recommends a few stylish items but they are highly priced and Big Richard decides he does not need accessories for the party, but Valqinor blings out with a fashionable earring.
Finally, having waited an hour they come face to face with the old, bearded and wizened-looking Mathesius... and find that the wizard's personality is not reflected in his appearance as he is very laid-back and constantly a mixture of drunk on alcohol and high on dillweed. The party explains that Lephnut has been poisoned after an adventure in the sewers and asks for the wizard's help to cure him. An examination by Mathesius, or "Matty" as he tells them to call him, shows that the poison is quickly overtaking Lephnut's body and blackening his arm and might kill him before the end of the night as his pangs of pain have been becoming more frequent. Matty takes a sample of Lephnut's blood and pledges to work on it but makes no promises. Giving the party his address to check later, Matty goes back to his house to work.
With nothing to do but wait for hopeful news from the wizard, the party returns to the Innocent Doe. They find Rembrandt still on duty, who explains that after the occupation of the dining area by Keldon Margrave and his entourage the other night, Anissa was fearful to come into work and Rembrandt has taken over her shifts for the rest of the week. Having found many people in the city who seem to adore Rembrandt, they ask him about his connections in the city and if he was invited to the upcoming banquet. Rembrandt says as a bartender in a prestigious establishment like the Innocent Doe, he does get to interact with many noblemen and wealthy individuals. He also did get an invitation but as he is busy covering for Anissa, he is unable to attend. Unfortunately he doesn't believe his invitation is just something he could pass along, as the guest list is expecting him in particular.
Lephnut takes some of the dillweed from their stash in their suite, deciding that if Matty is able to cure him, the dillweed would be a good payment. They go hesitationimbibes
With the biggest threat out of the way, they ask Mathesius if he has any magical items for sale. Mathesius says he doesn't deal in magical items due to the prohibitions on magic in Cressen by decree of the Church, but that he does deal in Lephnut and Big Richard both buy a healing potion

Returning to Innocent Doe for a good night's rest to their very long and arduous day, Rembrandt tells them that they have a visitor upstairs waiting to speak with them in private-- a certain Commander Darmody...
