Session 3 Report
General Summary
As the party exits Fallwood in the morning, they decide that they have to deal with the hobgoblin issue before departing lest the village get attacked again.
Heading back to the worg tracks seen the day before, the party finds they lead to a small clearing in the forest to the south of Fallwood. There, they spot a camp set up, with several spiked heads marking the territory. Four goblins sit around the campfire while their imposing hobgoblin leader oversees them. And in the distance, two worgs are spotted patrolling the area.
The party decides that they have to end the hobgoblin then and there and formulate a plan to sneak up on them. Unfortunately the plan goes awry immediately as Jett tries to initiate by levitating the hobgoblin commander into the air and taking him out of the fight, but the magic is resisted and the goblins rush forward. Jett is overwhelmed by a heavy blow from the hobgoblin. Big Richard, drawing attention away from her through a bevy of goblin curses and deplorable insults, is knocked down by the swarm of goblins.
Lephnut interjects himself, striking from the shadows with a surprise attack and shatters the hobgoblin's skull with a single, mighty blow. Devastated by the brutal death of the leader, some of the goblins begin to peel off from the fight, plinking arrows towards the party as they retreat.
Valqinor heals Big Richard back to bloody consciousness and steps forward to draw fire. Jett obscures the area in a fog cloud to cover her and Big Richard's move to cover and heal.
By this point the two worgs' attentions have been drawn and they rush forward to join the fray in search of a bloody confrontation. As Lephnut continues rushing forward, cleaving enemies in two, a retreating goblin hops on a worg and forcefully turns its reins to safety-- commanding the beast to run away.
The remaining worg puts up a final, angry stand but is slain by an onslaught of spells and arrows from Valqinor, Jett, and Big Richard.
As the dust settles, the fog cloud dissipates, and silence fills the clearing, the party takes some moments to recuperate and inspect the bodies of their foes.
Lephnut examines the shattered remains of the hobgoblin and recognizes its facial markings-- two vertical streaks of war paint down its face-- as those of a roaming mercenary band of hobgoblins known as the Twin Fangs. What were they doing here, and who hired them?
