STIs

There are several consequences to sex in Athena, amongst which are a variety of diseases. Listed are a few more well-known ones.

Fisherman's Wart

So named for its high case numbers in port cities, coastal wart is a chronic condition that affects people regardless of gender, and is one of the few diseases able to puncture the powerful constitutions of dwarfs. Characterized by dark-red and blackish warts on the genital region, it causes soreness, salty odour, bouts of dizziness, and a desire to eat high-acid foods.

Treatment

None known. Several people have made salves and creams meant to soothe the soreness, but these are untested.

Fey Delirium

Waves of dovatio venelitis, or Fey Delirum, spring up across Athena several times a year. Because the delirium is non-fatal, and only lasts a few weeks, it is considered a minor disease. It is characterized by an infected person acting as though drunk: dizzy, light-headed, poor judgement. It often coincides with greenish discolouring of the skin in the armpit and at the fingertips.

Treatment

A course of bedrest is usually prescribed to patients, as well as a medicine made of hot water and crushed up flowering Giant's Tongue.

Teletopia

Thankfully rare, Teletopia can survive for years asymptomatically in people, before making itself known. The first symptoms are bad breath and drooling. Afterwards, a hacking cough and cold extremities. If Teletopia progresses to its third stage, it can result in extreme tiredness, making affect people bedridden. In rare cases, teletopia can be fatal.

Treatment

If caught before the third stage, teletopia can be treated with certain potions.
