Bombers

Bombers are small one- or two-man ships that carry a heavy payload designed to take down capital ships or perform planetary bombardments. They can penetrate Capital ship shields and deliver their deadly payload inside the ships. Generally slower than fighters they usually need protection during their bombing runs. Some hybrid ships are designed to both hold up against enemy fighters and deliver heavy torpedoes or missiles, but in general, bombers are not able to defend themselves adequately against fighters or even small frigates.
