Miron's Tears
Before Mira Tiron's final battle with Bel Shalor's forces, she knew that the movement she had founded would require
shepharding and safeguarding. She entrusted this sacred task to Samyr Kes, an elven paladin of retribution that also loved her deeply. He accepted his role, disappearing into the shadows and faking his own death and sacrifice in that final battle to bind the Shadow in the Flame.
For over 700 years Samyr has run Miron's Tears, a secretive organization dedicated to rooting out corruption within the church. While he would normally be one of the oldest elves alive, The Golden Serpent, a couatl patron of the organization, has preserved his health even into his old age.
Most believe Miron’s Tears to be an urban legend — a secret order of spies and assassins deep within the Church of the Silver Flame, hidden even from the Keeper and the Cardinals. According to the stories, Tira Miron foresaw the danger of the Shadow in the Flame. On the eve of her battle with Bel Shalor, Tira charged her trusted companion Samyr Kes to monitor the Church that was to come for signs of fiendish corruption — to save those who could be saved, and eliminate those who could not. Those who believe these tales say that it was agents of Miron’s Tears who recognized the threat of Melysse Miron and exposed her as an agent of Bel Shalor.
