It is said that prior to the Great Calamity, Aurans were the only race to exist on Aura. The Old World is a testament to the varied genius of Aurans. They remain the most populous race across the planet, only through their adaptability enabling the blessing of Aura to transform those that survived.
History
Aurans flourished in a once modern society on the precipice of greatness. However, the Old World came to a sudden and disastrous end. In spite of a world-altering cataclysm, Aurans were not wiped out. They survived. Following this Great Calamity, Aurans became separated by distance and Mist. This separation lead each circle to birth its own culture, identity, and magical traits, independently for generation-after-generation.
At the mercy of monster and Mists, in a post-apocalyptic world, surviving Aurans flocked around places of spiritual magical power. These Circles flourished into communities. Aura’s blessing birthed a new generation of Aurans. Suddenly, magic existed. Aurans, range from possessing no magical affinity, to considerable magical proficiency, with magic dependant on where they are born and conceived. A world was reborn around these spiritual places of power, and those who wield that power.
Though Aurans are mostly human, they have a few distinguishing differences, from magical abilities, to age, physical appearance, and more.
This collection is just a preview of all the races, so you can decide which catch your eye, then go on to read more about them.
Circles
Separated throughout the world of Aura, survivors flocked around spiritual places of power that offered refuge from the endless tide of monster and Mist.
To the distant icy north, the Glasarans; A pale matriarchal society blessed by their Lady, a frozen ice spirit.
To the endless plains found in the far east, the Farlanders; Wild tribes who survive atop enormous Adamantoises, roaming the plains.
Further south in the east, the Spiran; an Old World city and its people, rebirthed in the ashes of a dying Phoenix.
In the heartlands, the Firstborn; A mighty walled city crafted and designed by two Minotaurs, offering sanctuary to desperate survivors when all hope was lost.
North of the heartlands, the Aeturnians make their homes atop floating islands; a powerful people of magical users, who study, develop, and manipulate these forces in an endless effort to develop.
To the west, the Myrias; A breathtaking landscape given life by the great serpent. A culture of freedom and self-expression.
The southern desert is home to the Firan; often named the Exiled, they are thieves and criminals exiled to anarchy. In reality, the Firan bow to the Golden King, born to a warrior society that appreciates only two things; strength, and beauty.
Found to the western north in the ruins of the Old World city, Cidna, the L’cid; stubborn survivors of Cidna who make the city their home, salvaging and scavenging machina for their own purpose.
Finally, to the north west lies the Veil; the Gilandrians, a hardy, stubborn people who survived on sheer grit and an unwillingness to break.
Tongue
Auran is the dominant language on Aura, spoken across all circles, passed down by the Old World. This universal language separates into regional dialects and differences born from separated cultures.
