Fey

Guardians of the Seed

The Fey are taller fairies born to the Seed. Youthful in their appearance, even as they advance in years, the Fey are a playful species, fluttering about the forest with fairy-like wings. They are the children of Titania, a spirit of Aura who birthed the Seed. They tend to Seed, and all the wilds birthed from its mystical essence. They are the guardians of the Feylands.

History

Following the Great Calamity, Titania descended to help return life to a desolate Aura. She became the seed, that sprouted into an enormous tree, that birthed the untameable wilderness of the Feylands. Onto this tree, cocoons sprouted the first of the Fey, to whom all of the Feylands, bowed. She became the first ancestor, and the first official Titania. More Fey were sprouted with similar, though lesser control over nature. They weren’t alone, Titania’s blessing gave all manner of life across the Feylands. Titania, and the Fey, govern the Feylands from the Seed, as diplomats, and the Keepers of the forest. Using their magic, they help life flourish, protect it from invasive Aurans, Mists, and monsters. They are deeply spiritual and magic creatures who enjoy having fun.

Tongue

The Fey aren’t descendants of Aurans. They speak a flowery tongue similar to an Elven language. Feytongue, as it is known, is widely regarded as the spiritual language of the planet. Fey songs echo across the Feylands, helping sprout new life, aiding in the continued blossoming of the forest.

Physical Attributes

Fey vary greatly. Their younger cousins grow upon lower branches of the Seed. Known as Pixies, these Fey tend to be playful and mischievous, delighting in the games they play. Traditional Fey are born on higher branches. Unlike their much smaller cousins, Fey vary from a mere two-feet childlike height, to over five-feet. They can appear childlike, or possess the sensual appearance of a woman. Their appearance varies greatly. They exude a natural flowery scent. Their wings can be small, or large, and produce fairy dust which plant-life is nurtured by. Their hair is bright and vibrant, not unlike their eyes. Their ears of sharper, creating the belief that long sharp ears denote the magic of Aura. Fey-voices tend to be much higher-pitched, softer, and gentler than Aurans. Though it can become rather shrill when they want it to be.
Fey come in three types. Traditional Fey are primarily blessed with Primal magic which nurtures the forest. Some Fey develop Verse magic, with songs and dance achieving a similar feat. Punk-Fey are a cultural variant who general develop more punkish Verse magic that is more akin to Pixie magic. Then there are the Dark Fey... Dark Fey exist. Those that love their playful innocence and become infected by some malicious energy and are transformed. They can often be found in Fortuna, or Smog, and are highly dangerous for their aggressive tendencies which infect nature around them.

Culture

Fey are everything you would imagine fairies to be. They are carefree, curious, playful, and liberated creature, unburdened by certain realities. Fey face problems with a bright smile. Emotions are sacred to them, for fear of becoming Dark Fey, and because their emotions alter nature around them. Nature reflects their mood, especially in large groups! Sadness is expressed with free tears and haunting songs. Happiness beams with fluttering performances and upbeat jovial tunes. Anger is highly controlled, and exiled to certain dark places in the forest. Fey are free to scream, cry, and sing frustrated songs that sound more like rock ballads! This exercise helps rebalance them so they can return to the brighter places of the Feylands.
Happiness is a Fey’s base. They are a playful creature. They tease. They are naturally empathetic, as the Keepers of the forest, they are caring, and genuine. When someone is sad, they take it upon themselves to help! Unfortunately for certain Aurans, the way they help is often through song. A lot of their emotions are expressed through song. The Seed is always alive with the sound of music. However, Aurans are fearful of music when entering the Feylands, as some Pixies use it to lead people astray, for fun!
Fey are an inclusive society, however they are wary of outsiders. Aurans steal and smuggle from their lands. Some even take the wings of Pixies and Fey as a valuable resource. This makes the Fey, easily frightened. Nevertheless, the Seed is a hub of all life in the Feylands, welcoming all creatures to their markets. As Keepers, Fey also act as diplomats and mediators between disgruntled Beastkin tribes.
Fey are very liberal in their emotions. So while some are playful, most are happy and carefree, there are some Fey who tend to be moodier. An Auran expression does come from the Fey; “you’re pouting like a Fey”. Following this trend, some tend to be a little more rebellious, more Pixie-like. They are Punk-Fey, and their songs are distinctly moodier. Punk-Fey often neglect their duties, prefer to be alone, and sing about whatever frustration they have with their lives.

Nomenclature

Fey names are whimsical and an expression of that Fey. Some originate from the Feytongue, distinctly Elven in their sound. Other names originate from the natural world; Sparkle, Blossom, Tulip, etc. Punk-Fey opt for moodier names such as; Purplehaze, Rebelle, Wildcherry, ect.

Dress

The Fey dress how you would imagine. Flowers adorn their hair. Decorative natural accessories are worn all over. Their outfits tend to be flowery, and natural, using foresty elements like leaves, flowers, and wood. Punk-Fey distinguish themselves by taking advantage of stray Aurans. They steal their leather, or add pieces of found metal to their clothing. Their mood affects flowers, allowing them to look moodier with studded flowery cuffs.
