The Sons & Daughters of Minos
Survivors of the Great Calamity had no means of escaping the coming tide of monster and Mists. Rumour spread of two Minotaurs constructing great structures at the heart of Aura. People flocked from all over to find shelter. The Minotaurs siblings taught the Firstborn advanced engineering principles that enabled them to aid in the construction of the walled stone city of Minos.
Long after the Minotaurs faded into memory, the city of Minos remains the beating core of Aura. Its people were blessed with the magical powers to manipulate rock and stone, with engineers capable of constructing enormous walls, elevators, irrigation systems, and more. Firstborn are the most populous race. They are hardy workers who take pride in what they do, and always complete what they promise. Firstborn society is built on the principle of working together to construct something much greater. They are broad, stubborn, and willing to work no matter the weather.
Distribution:
Minos, The Great Plains, Aspire, Myriad, Gilandria
Physical Attributes
The Firstborn are rather unspectacular in their appearance. They tend to be broader and often vary significantly in height. Some families might barely average five foot, while others might be as tall as six-and-half feet! Firstborn tend to have brown or black hair, brown eyes and features as broad as their shoulders. There is an equal distribution between fair-skinned and darker-skinned Firstborn.
Culture
Minos is a cultural society founded on a sense of unity and togetherness. Everyone does their part to create something greater than the sum of its parts. Their culture is similar to a construction site. Everyone knows they have a part to play.
From a young age, children are evaluated for their innate talents, and then placed into trades, to study and later, serve an apprenticeship. Each function is society has its own Guild, with the Guild-Master serving on the Minos Council. This regimented society follows form and function. Every thing has its place. Solo achievements are small compared to group projects.
Firstborn tend to be resilient defenders. They are often trusting. They uplift one another to present a united front. They come together instinctively, and fight harder for one another. However, this society collapses when distrust is founded. Firstborn might be trusting and protective, but betray that trust and you become ostracised, this includes failing to do your part. They are often too regimented and closed-minded to new ideas versus the collective mentality. They can be content, and accepting of their lot. Don’t be fooled, Firstborn are still individuals, who take considerable pride in their work, or their piece of a greater whole. Many families will point out to their children, which bricks in the enormous wall was placed by their ancestors.
The Minotaur brothers passed down another cultural-spanning belief. When given a task, it is your duty to fulfil that task. When a Firstborn makes a promise, he sees it through the end. Firstborns were the first to begin recording history, chronicling and uncovering the truth behind the Great Calamity by exploring the world around them. Writing and documenting is an important pass-time to many Firstborn. Lots of mundane achievements have been catalogued into novels, aggrandising simple accomplishments.
Nomenclature
Firstborn names are harsh and rugged! They are often based on something tough, natural, or crafted, such as; Gears, Smelter, Ator, Wallt, etc. Surnames are valuable and were often founded based upon Guild and function with some individual flair, such as; Brickharta, Aletine, and Minetacore.
Dress
Functional. Firstborns are rather unstylish in their simple choice of attire. However, some flair is found in the simple designs that adorn cloth. Firstborn colours tend to be earthen choices, greens, browns, and blues. The higher up a Firstborn advances in their guild, the more elaborate their clothing might become. Once again, this has its function. Its important to be able to identify who is in charge with one look.
