Reclaimers of the Old World
Following the Great Calamity, those that survived within the Old World city of Cidna, chose not to abandon it. They scavenged to survive within the shelter of their fallen home. Enormous sky-scrapers fell, and more war-machina poured out of the old governmental building. They were hunted, and not just by ordinary machina, but by something much bigger too. They formed into disparate tribes called; Districts, who found shelter in underground subway tunnels, inside old stadiums, or by repurposing a mall.
Separated districts wage war upon one another to scavenge what remains. Their survival depends on one single skill they have developed. By reverse-engineering machina, they are able to reconstruct and reprogram their own, in defence of their isolated settlements. They have even unlocked secrets regarding Old World technology, reclaiming and repurposing it. They are scavengers, reclaimers, and raiders, separated from the rest of society by their unique traits, a willingness to stake claim, and an unwillingness to share that claim. A trait that has seen them ostracised by society for their willingness to raid and attack.
It is said L’cid unlocked the secret of machina thanks to their damaged eyesight. Their pale eyes are sensitive to light, but enable them to see energy signatures of certain machines, and even monsters.
L’cid are inspired by the Al Bhed, with some Quarren influence in there too.

Physical Attributes
L’cid are unrecognizable by their physical attributes alone. They most closely resemble a true Auran. Fair skin, varied shades of hair, average height, and average life-span. Their eyes are pale, diluted as if they had gone blind. They can see energy signatures of machina, and some monsters, as if they were radiating a soft glow.
Culture
The L’cid are expressive salvagers who survive by reusing or repurposing old technology for new ingenious purposes. They have no religious beliefs. Their survival relies upon logical deduction, and intelligent discoveries. They unravel mechanical problems and discover solutions. If they can’t think of a solution, they will make a solution! If they can’t make a solution, they’ll reprogram your solution! Knowledge is sacred to the L’cid. It is passed down from father-to-son, mother-to-daughter, and culturally.
Every L’cid son and daughter must learn to survive and be of benefit to their L’cid District. Young L’cid have to take a Rite of Passage to earn their way into adulthood and gain a place in their society. At some point in their teen years, L’cid will journey out into the world, to claim a piece of Old World tech and repurpose it. These findings are taken back to their society, were a celebration is held. Your position in L’cid society is based upon your value. Thus, many youthful groups will band together to perform their Rite of Passage. These Reclaimers can be very dangerous to the outside world, as they are willing to steal, or take, whatever they deem worthy enough.
L’cid are ostracised by the rest of Aura. This eccentric group often sends out salvagers on Excavations. These Reclaimers journey out into the world staking claim on Old World tech or places of interest. They will threaten, and if necessary, outright attack the local inhabitants to claim that piece of tech for themselves.
They are so gifted at reprogramming and repurposing machina, that their machines are equal to any magic. Furthermore, L’cid’s society is often starved of key resources, meaning they have developed raiding sensibilities. They take from rival L’cid bands, or attack roaming caravans and travellers for their resources. All of this and more, has made the world of Aura sceptical of L’cid. Many believe L’cid to be the most dangerous group who will one day wage war across the world.
L’cid are especially resourceful and ingenious engineers. Each L’cid is outspoken in their methods. They learn to be independent, which makes L’cid even more dangerous when they come together, especially when they come together on larger projects. L’cid love treasure. They are obsessed with items of value, or tech they don’t understand. They are always tinkering. They tend to be eccentric and hard to understand.
There exists an L’cid prophecy that states; one L’cid will reunite the Districts under his banner through the power of his machina. Some more war-like tribes seek to do just that.
Nomenclature
L’cid have three names. Their given name, their family name, and then their District name. Their family name and district name is separated by only an apostrophe. L’cid names are often as eccentric, dramatic, or specialised, as the parent. They often name their children after parts, or whatever word springs to their mind in the moment. More often than not, L’cid given names are short. Family names date back as far as the Old World. Some can even be found on data-terminals, or even in houses! As an example; Liza Voss’Hub.
Dress
L’cid attire is obviously inspired by Al Bhed designs, and Lost Planet designs. L’cid repurpose salvaged outfits, which have become damaged and worn, then redesign that outfit into something befitting their tastes. They wear layers of protective form-fitting clothing, often leather, or cloth, or a waterproof material, and rarely just one of those things. Their eyes are particularly sensitive to light, forcing them to wear shades and goggles, as their constant tinkering often produces sparks. L’cid are always equipped with bags, and pouches, and hidden pouches, and extra hidden pouches, to keep whatever they can find.
