The Order of the Divine Scions of the Grim Harvest

Structure Scions are first accepted into the order upon a vow to protect the living, to hunt and eliminate witches and necromancers, to repel and defeat the undead, to remain true to the order of the Scions and obey their superiors. All Scions are granted residence at their temples, however the staus of the accommodation pertains to the rank of the colour robe achieved.   Once the vow has been taken, the initiate takes up the white robes of innocence, often adorned with a hood that may take many forms, from that of casual to pointed and full face covering, in the ways of some ancient druids, with only the eye holes cut for vision. The hoods are mostly for ceremony rather than for practicality. A white-robe wil ususally perform duties around the Scion temple and be schooled and trained in the recognition and strata of the undead, witches and hags, and rudimentary magic to combat the aforementioned. Upon completion, the white-robes are sent on quests or missions, which if successful, enable them to become red-robes. White-robes are given pittance residence, often bunked or little better than stables in which to stay.   Red-robe Scions are devided into two roles, that of Paladin or Magister. Paladins focus on their fighting prowess, mixed with their faith that enables them to effecively cobat those they have sworn to eliminate, whereas the Magisters focus upon the higher Arcane magicks and also combine their faith to combat the forces of Darkness. Red-robes are given private quarters, access to libraries and often mounts, depending upon the prosperity of the temple in that particular region.   Red-robes continue their duties until they show particular promise and may be nominated by one of the High Circle of Black-robes to join their number. Once nomination has been put forward to the High Circle, the Black-robes formulate a riddle that the Red-robe must solve. The riddle must be relevant to the knowledge and experience of the Red-robe and must also be a test of wisdom. Should the riddle be answered correctly, the nominee becomes a Black-robe of the High Circle and has increased station and residence within the temples of the Order. They are presented with an iron key to the secret libraries and often become political figures in their own right.   At the Head of the Black Circle there is the Grand Scion who has the power of veto over the Circle, but often because of great political and magical power. Public Agenda The public agenda of the Scions is very much stated in the initiates vows, which are to protect the living, to hunt and eliminate witches and necromancers, to repel and defeat the undead. Assets The Scions have grown quite powerful amongst the regimes of humans, to the point where they have become imbeded in the political mechinations of capitals, cities, and large towns. Their magical prowess and strength against the undead forces give them leverage and voice where otherwise they would have none. Perhaps the greatest show of power is the Obsidian temple in Olansk with its host of gargoyles that protect the city by night. History The Order started small, so small that it has faded in memory, written records are patchy and vague. There seems to not have been a single one individual that started the order, but rather a "brotherhood" from far and wide that worked together to amalgamate followers with teachings and knowledge that gave the order the tools it needed against the undead to thrive. Tenets of Faith Based particularly on the Fates, it is said that when the Crone cuts the thread of life, then it should remain cut, preserving the tapestry of life. To regain cut threads that are cut is against the Natural Order and must be rectified.   It is these "undone threads" that cause the dead to rise beyond death to plague the world and it must be stopped.
