Adamantine

An extremely valuable and durable metal, often heroes of old have used weapons made of this metal to slay mighty beasts.

Properties

Material Characteristics

In refined bar form, it has a green-blue colour to it that sparkles from the right angles.
In raw ore form it looks like green strands of metal once freed from the rock it was in.

Physical & Chemical Properties

This metal is extremely light but nigh unbreakable. It can withstand immense heat, pressure and force without denting or bending or taking other forms of damage.

Geology & Geography

This material is found extremely deep beneath the earth, only the mines of Mountain Dwarves go deep enough to harvest this resource.

History & Usage

History

It was discovered by the Dwarves in 1211 BCC. It was first called "The Dwarven Metal" before being re-branded by the Dwarves themselves as "Adamantine"   Throughout the years Humans have attempted to search for this metal themselves deep underground but even their greatest miners and foremen weren't able to build mines deep enough to reach the ore.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Dwarves believe that this metal belongs to them as they discovered it and only they know how to work it and change it into usable objects.

Refinement

When the ore is dug up out of the ground it is made up of thin strands encased within the rock. The rock is carefully removed until all the strands are freed from the stone, the strands are then washed and prepared for refinement.   The strands are then taken deep underground into special refinement sites which were built near the hottest magma that can be found in the region. If the magma is hot enough and the strands become malleable enough to work, they are quickly taken and given to the forge master.   The forge master then takes the heated up strands in large bundles and works them between special hammers which are as big as a grown whale. The hammers are moved using simple steam pistons which make use of the magma nearby.   The hammers come together with incredible force, meeting each other head on with the strands between the two hammers to form them together into one piece. This process takes hours of reheating and then beating before a solid bar is created. This process takes extreme precision and care, the forge master must stay alert at every step of the process.   The bar is much thinner and smaller than bars of iron for example as the bars need to be able to be worked into usable objects, which uses a similar process.

Manufacturing & Products

This metal can be used anywhere you need metal that can take any form of punishment.

Reusability & Recycling

Once the metal has been shaped into an object it is almost impossible to find a source of heat hot enough and a force strong enough to change its shape.

Distribution

Trade & Market

This item is a luxury, only reserved for kings and their personal guard or mighty heroes.
