Claudia is a young woman that has always been interested in magic thanks to the stories her parents Gunther and Lana used to tell her.
One day, soon after she turned twelve years old, Claudia was exploring the outskirts of the small town she lived in and discovered an old wizards tower.
It was abandoned a long time ago, filled with cobwebs and dust. She went inside and examined the whole tower, finding a large book and a thin tome in the mostly empty bookshelves. The book and the tome were obviously old, the book had a basic brown canvas cover whereas the tome had a black leather cover and pages that have turned a deep yellow and brown color due to their age. Claudia read through it and was amazed to find the tome contains spells and the book showed a way to learn those spells. She left the books there but almost every day when she was done helping her mother in the house, she would go to the tower and learn out of the old tome. Years went by and Claudia was confident she could use a few of the spells she studied from the black tome. With her pocket money, she purchased some ingredients that the tome called for to use the spells. Claudia successfully cast two of the spells, basic spells but it was magic nonetheless. A couple more years went by and she continued learning and casting some of the spells. One day however, in the year 1004, a spell went awry causing a hot flash of magic to blow up in her face. Damaging her face, blinding her right eye and turning her hair a permanent white instantly. Two guards patrolling the road near the tower heard the sounds and Claudia's surprised scream so ran to and into the tower. There they found Claudia, with undeniable evidence that she was using magic, not only that but black magic. Something that is strongly forbidden by the church, it didn't take long for Claudia to be prosecuted and condemned to death by burning on the pyre, the people watching the public trial cheered as they heard the sentence she was given. Claudia, as she was waiting in the jail cell to be taken to the pyre was freed by a fellow magic user, Catherine. Catherine gave her the option to go wherever she wanted, Claudia asked for Catherine to take her with her as she wants to learn more about magic and gain more power to one day return for revenge against those who sentenced her to death and those towns people that cheered on the decision to put her to death. Catherine agreed and took her to the School of Magic, though Catherine made Claudia her personal student and gave her extra lessons in her free time. After Catherine left the Wizards Council and thus lost her teaching position in the School of Magic, Claudia is no longer directly taught by her but she decided to stay at the school.
