Filth Fever
A terribly disgusting disease, it quickly debilitates those who are exposed to it.
Wading through a midden or traipsing through bogs and sewers can expose would-be adventurers to Filth Fever. It inhibits the body’s ability to recover appropriately.
Transmission & Vectors
Simple contact with contaminated material is enough for the disease to take hold.
Causes
Once the individual has made contact with contaminated material the virus quickly enters through the pores in the skin into the bloodstream where it metabolises extremely quickly.
Symptoms
Sweating, fever, nausea, grey sores on the skin and a terrible smell being emitted by the skin of an infected individual.
Treatment
The root of a Mandrake must be prepared by a skilled alchemist and turned into a paste that must be applied to the armpits and any open sores on the body before being covered by bandages. The paste and bandages must be replaced every 6 hours. This process must be repeated until the disease is cured.
Prognosis
Onset of symptoms is within less than a week. The disease lasts up to 3-5 weeks with treatment.
This disease proves fatal if left untreated in over 85% of infected individuals.
Prevention
The best method of prevention is to keep clear of infected materials.
