Greyscale
Greyscale is a relentless disease.
It tends to take hold over those who live in damp conditions and those with weakened immune systems.
The afflicted exhibit oddities upon their flesh, hardening their skin like thin scales – thus its namesake.
It leaves limbs dead and atrophied, causes feverish episodes periodically and even moments of epilepsy before the offending limbs must be removed. For all of its victims, it is a death sentence – albeit a slow, painful one.
Cowbells and personal clappers are often forced upon its victims, to warn others of their dire illness as they go about their suffering.
Transmission & Vectors
Contact with contaminated surfaces, infected individuals or carriers of this disease may spread it to others.
Causes
The bacterium enters the body through the skin and slowly spreads throughout the body.
Symptoms
Fever like episodes, grey scale like growth on skin, Gangrene, atrophy and death of limbs.
Treatment
There is no known cure, the only short term treatment for this disease is the removal of affected tissue.
Prognosis
Onset of this disease is within a few weeks.
The first stage of this has the afflicted grow itchy grey scales on parts of their skin, then days later episodes of fever affect the infected.
The second stage begins a week later and has the first symptoms intensify, on top of that it has the affected individual gain Gangrene on heavily scaled areas of their skin.
The third stage has usually begun a month after initial infection and has the individual's worst affected limbs atrophy and die off which then need to be amputated, this slowly continues until the individual dies from their weakened body giving up.
