Rune Magic
Rune magic uses as the name implies, rune stones to create and cast magic.
It is much safer than regular magic in that it cannot be miscast or backfire.
In the ancient days, the dwarves have invented this safe form of magic, however a few events have caused this magic to fall into disuse and become forgotten. Only recently was it rediscovered by the dwarves of Svimalin.

Manufacturing
Rune stones are created by chiselling specific runes into chunks of white marble as that seems to be the only material so far to be able to allow rune magic to function.
There are different types of runes:
Target runes that define what target is to be selected for the rune magic, such as: Self, Missile (which shoots a ball of energy that carries the rune magic to a target or location) or Area which can be combined with one of the two earlier mentioned runes.
Effect runes which determine what kind of effect the rune magic should cause, such as: Harm, Ignite, Heal, Transform, Slow, Freeze, Move and many others.
Empowering runes which increase the power or duration of an effect rune.
