Capture of Calagos Reef

Around 168 FOS the pirate lord Selwyn 'Darkmane" Rischer overtook the isle of Calagos Reef, an important trading and repair stop in the Black Ocean. Darkmane docked his ship 'The Night's Strumpet' claiming he needed repairs and had goods for trade. Meeting with the commander stationed there, Blackmane had plans of treachery swirling through his mind like a maelstrom. Forming a plan with his crew, Blackmane had his cook make up a great feast to help act as thanks for the commander and his men allowing the ship to dock for repairs. Only the food in the feast was filled with a poison, and all of the men under the commanders watch grew very ill. While the soldiers stationed at Calagos Reef were getting sick, Blackmane and his crew slit their throats. Blackmane had his men round up any of the remaining soldiers and any who opposed him rounded up and put to the sword.

Following his coupe Blackmane strolled about the island, taking in what was now his. Deciding the large fortified outpost would be where he would reside, he commissioned the local craftsman to construct a throne from portions of the surrounding reef. Having crowned himself 'Reef King' and changing the name of his island stronghold to Darkreach, Darkmane put out a call to the other eight pirate lords of The Tide to come to his island.   Calagos Reef was formerly in the jurisdiction of the Kingdom of Xelathor, though in the centuries since it fell into the hands of The Tide and was renamed Darkreach  they have not attempted to regain control over the isle.
