Shadespar
The city of Shadespar was built along the banks of a crystal clear Sea of Kensingisle and is truly a classic display of wonder. Its charm is matched by the backdrop of modest hills which have helped shape the city to what it is today.
The resources these hills brought were of great importance, but they were also influential when it came to architectural designs as the vast majority of buildings have been built in various round shapes and sizes, which mimics the playfulness of the hills around them.
The skyline is packed with giant skyscrapers and even from afar they manage to display their beauty. Trade is at an all time high in Shadespar and it has attracted a lot of attention. Countless cultures have left their mark not just on business, but also upon the city's identity. What historically was a city of few cultures has grown into an amalgamation of differences and it's this that unites the 40 thousand people to this day.
It's this multicultural identity that has truly left its mark. Hundreds of bars, coffeehouses and ethnic restaurants offer a plethora of culinary choices, and those who hunger for something else can enjoy markets, pleasure dens, art galleries, libraries or one of the many other recreational venues.
Shadespar is home to the throne of Brelovia with its lustrous braziers enclosing each of the ten ivory columns light up the entire throne hall and cover the hall in warm oranges and dancing shadows. The tapestries depicting the kingdom hanging from the layered ceiling dance in the flickering light while sculptures and gargoyles look down upon the oaken floor of this magnificent hall.
An orchid rug runs in a circle around the room, with two paths at the throne and the main entrance while ribbon banners with gilded quilting hang from the walls. Between each banner sits a small alter full of candles, some of them have been lit and in turn illuminate the wall paintings of late rulers below them.
Modest, stained glass windows depicting important moments of victory are enclosed by drapes colored the same orchid as the banners. The curtains have been adorned with burnished corners and fancy tassels.
An imposing throne of silver sits beneath an almost entirely closed baldachin (canopy) and is adjoined by two large, but far less ornate seats for those aiding the royal highness in all affairs.
The throne is covered in intricate patterns and fixed on each of the slim ears is a gemmed rose. The comfortable pillows are a light orchid and these too have been adorned with burnished tips.
Those seeking the wisdom of their royal highness can do so on the plethora of modest, yet comfortable mahogany benches, all of which are lined up perfectly symmetrical. Those of higher standing can instead take seat in the excessively embellished mezzanines facing the throne.
