Episode 17: Converging Fury Report

General Summary

Our heroes were beaten, they were told to quit unless they wanted to "learn" another lesson from Lorenzo and his band. Our heroes are either slow learners or a different kind of daring. Most would recoil and rest, gather information and plan to win another day. But for our intrepid group they couldn't wait. They immediately intrusted Tobias to care for Valcore at Breaton Valithor's estate. Boarded the Naiad and the chase was on. The Naiad being a faster vessel was able to keep up with the larger and more well armed Acheron. It seemed slowing it down was highly unlikely, and being in range of the Acheron's heavy weapons was even less appealing. They were going to wait. Until a most unexpected sign appeared. For some strange reason the Acheron's sail was lit up brightly in the night. Providing a clear shot for the Naiad to fire. A devastating attack caused one of the masts to break and fall slowing the Acheron significantly. Through evasive seamanship the Naiad avoided most of the brunt of the Acheron's mangonels and continued the chase. Closing the gap the Naiad heavily damaged the Acheron's Helm preventing it from taking an evasive manuevers. And perhaps our heroes did learn something from these events, that they would commit to their course and see it through win or loss. Lambert loaded himself on one of the mangonel's and launched himself, crashing him into the lower decks of the Acheron with the assistance of his very scary Quasit who had snuck on board together they prepare a infiltration mission. Following close behind was the Naiad itself, as it crashed directly into the Acheron at ramming speed, the force so strong it almost obliterated the front ram of the Naiad. Crewmen on both sides flying and carnage ensued. Captain Valithor proceeded to drop a Darkness cloud on the center of the main deck and prepares the ship to board. For Valcore! What caused that bright flash of light that guided the Naiad? It was a guiding bolt from Freaf Rasdulim a Kirin Elder Dragonborn. This Monster Hunter researcher managed to break out of his prison, as if the gods were with him this day, a pair of thieves tools landed into his cell! He unlocked his bindings and defeated the guard holding the key. Rescuing a Lizardfolk, goblin and a 13 year old Wood Elf who turned out to be a vicious werewolf. Freaf escaped and damaged the sail. and was extracted by the Naiad's Sharkhaan marines and reluctantly agreed to help stop his captors. Dust and debris fill the area, darkness looms as the morning sun is beginning to rise and exhaustion is at the doors for our heroes. Our heroes certainly have tenacity and bravery, but can they survive the fury to come?
