Episode 18: The Stalking Nightmare Report

General Summary

Our heroes have fought many different kinds of threats and adversities. But today they fight a Nightmare. These Silverflame they contend with are not Silverflame. During the blood conflict they saw as members would die and change revealing themselves as a shapeassuming race known as the Doppelgangers. And Lorenzo was the name of the old captain of the Acheron long missing. This "Lorenzo" that they fought was not a man. It was a strange and evil monster known by many names and often portrayed as a boogeyman or oni. This breed of monsters engineered by the Giant's to take the strength of an Ogre, the intelligence of a Storm Giant, the regenerative abilities of a troll with none of its weaknesses even the flight and mist forming of the Cloud giants. And the ability to blend in to shape forms, This twisted creation led to the downfall of many societies and has cemented itself as a legend and folktale. These monsters are highly intelligent and driven by selfish and singular motives. With such a monster like that in charge of this crew, using their authority masquerading as the Silverflame to amount wealth and to track down slaves. "Lorenzo" would finally hunt down and find a treasure he is most fond of out of his collection. William and his family. But "Lorenzo" didn't know the kind of friends William had or their resolve, perhaps underestimating their determination and abilties. The Naiad went into this fight with the Acheron as a losing situation. The ship greatly outnumbered the Naiad and the members of the Naiad were weakened and separated. However it was not all lost. Lambert through great heroics with his trusty familiar led a rescue operation on the lower levels and to their surprise encounter an old friend. Three Rings and her crew were captured by "Lorenzo" with them free and the lower decks officers and Surgeon subdued, perhaps the tide would turn. Meanwhile on deck Konna and Freaf offered a sound defensive line. Doing their part to maintain the Naiad and its crew to the best of their ability. Tailiya desperately searching for William. Upon unbinding him from his chains, William lunged at Tailiya biting her, William being influenced by some mind altering substances was able to shake free from the control, the effects of that action may lead to long term consequences. William now freed was able to his powerful fury, emboldened to protect those that risked their lives to help him, and strengthened in his desire to destroy the monster that has stalked and haunted him throughout his life. This one minute of conflict and strife led to many long lasting effects. And while our heroes prevailed for now and most of the fake Silverflame members have been eradicated. "Lorenzo" is still out there. Barely escaping our heroes revenge. With most of their crew succumbing to their wounds and a friend indebted to them with Three Rings, the choice with what to do now is still up in the air. There is that sinking feeling of being watched, how can one sleep at night knowing that the Stalking Nightmare still lives.
