Episode 20: The Price of a Life

General Summary

People die, everyday countless die to the unfortunate harsh realities of life on Auriga. A necrophage howler, a hungry Rathian. Sahuagin from the depths. Standing in the wrong place when someone casts fireball.   Yet for our heroes, in the case of Tailiya and Valcore, their response was "Not today. Not these ones." They were prepared to give everything for their friends to come back. They met the famous and powerful Shingar Mulshui. A spiritual leader of Dirge and promoter of a Philosophy Way of the Open Hand and Closed Fist. A belief that revolves around the unity between chaos and order, selflessness and selfishness, power and sacrifice.   Shingar often cannot be in Dirge, often working directly with the Dynasty and in service for the Jade Emperor. Our heroes met him teleporting to the Sanctuary of Dirge.  Where he extended and offered his power to the people.   He listened to our heroes case. The worth and value of the life's that they seek to bring back. They delivered a honest and forthright speech. Shingar agreed to the payments. A small fortune of gold and a diamond. Even offering him Valcore's glaive. Giving a warriors weapon to someone is indeed a noble offer. All that they said was given serious thought and consideration.    Shingar began the 1 hour casting and revival process for both fallen members. After successfully raising them through this tiring and intensive procedure he had a private conversation with Tailiya and Valcore. Tailiya, a student of Dirge, Shingar has considered her death and the clear revealing of her identity as a sign of failure in her training.   Valcore, was a member of another house under the sovereignty of a rival Great House, House Malfestio. After a background check Shingar had taken the offering of his Glaive in a literal sense. For a one year geas.  Valcore is to pledge himself as a Samurai of Kitsune and to make House Ivar and the Coral Highlands a part of Kitsune Sovereignty and to defeat all who in House Ivar that might oppose this notion. Additionally he is to prove his honor. and humility He will not channel his smite upon a foe who hasn't tried to harm him first. And he will welcome and open the door to others. The Oath of Devotion that Valcore has taken will now be pushed to its truest tests. Shingar informed Valcore that there is a warrant for his arrest. According to House Ivar, Valcore is to be charged with the murder of his wife and the attempted coup of the house. Now more than ever Valcore has been pushed to reclaim his throne, reclaim his name and most of all, bring to justice those who had taken everything for him. He may belong to a different lord, but his conviction and devotion is still the same. He will have his justice.   She was imposed a year long geas, to be honest and open about who she really is to each person she meets for the first time. Secondly she is to perform the traditional ritual dance and performance of apology in the public square in front of House Calenden. The reasoning being that the division of Loyalists and Traditionalists that cloud Dugang must be quelled in favor of supporting the Philosophy of Dirge and the will of Kitsune. Tailiya dressed in the traditional dress and performed the display. Her heart heavy knowing the implications of this public event. Her eyes locked on with her Father Breaton. The piercing gaze of betrayal as Kylus Calenden publically accepted Tailiya's apology ritual  and embraced her. At that moment it was clear to Tailiya that the life she knew, the values she had and even the family that loved her. Those died when Lorenzo took her life.   Our heroes lost a lot that day, by doing so, they have come to recognize the price of a life.
