Episode 23: Rescue and Evacuate! Report

General Summary

Last we left our heroes they had decided to perform a measure of damage control with their encounter with the petrifying creatures on board the Starkissed. William was able to discern that this very particular case of petrification could indeed be dispelled. Captain Valcore was freed, and while he tried to gain a reward from the crew of the Starkissed, the crew with the majority of their cargo blown to smithereens and most of their crew turning into statues, seemed to have no idea about an actual way to reward the efforts of the Naiad. This "captain" Hubreck seemingly having no idea about the treasury of the Starkissed only led to arguments between the crews. The Naiad were quick to assist in the repairs of the Starkissed while the Naiad officers went down below to search for Tailiya. Under the seas the statue of Tailiya was caught in an underwater reef, being guarded by a large Abyssal Eye, a predatory fish that relies on scaring its prey rather than using brute force. This brought the attention of Shell Sharks, sharks plated in thick Ether resistant shells to the fight. This fight was surprisingly bloody, costing much of the party's resources and bringing Konna near to being fish food. The area around the defeated Abyssal Eye became a cloud of blood driving the Shell Sharks into a mindless feeding frenzy. Our heroes fought the sharks to the bitter end and rescued Tailiya. However the prolonged fighting seemed to draw the ire and attention of Sahuagin scouts who proceeded to swim after the party. With no time to lose the party ordered a cancellation of the repairs of the Starkissed. Konna thinking of making the most of the situation managed to find a secret compartment in the captain's quarters revealing the ship's treasury, escaping with the treasury, and the crew of the Starkissed being unwilling to leave their petrified crew remained on board. Some of the Naiad's crew seemed eager to defend the Starkissed and fight the Sahuagin knowing the terrible and torturous fate awaiting them. The officers of the Naiad however knew the danger the Sahuagin and did not want to chance an encounter with them while not at full strength and put their green crew through any more danger. The decision was not popular, especially with one of the officer's openly robbing the crew and leaving them to their fate. The rest of the officers managed to patch up the suspicions of Captain Valcore's competence, reminding them that there is a reason they are the officers, they have to weigh and make these difficult decisions. With that situation behind them. The crew of the Naiad have hopefully evaded the Sahuagin scouts by the unfortunate bait of the Starkissed. Now they can focus on their goal.
