Episode 35: Goodbye Hero Report

General Summary

A somber day for our heroes. After a devastating loss and an exhausting morning, the survivors began to put out fires and assist the surviving Half Elf family of 6 plus 1 Ayleiren woman in fixing up the destroyed town.    Along with these efforts a proper funeral was made for their friend and companion Lambert Underfoot. Burying him in a nice outlook overlooking the valley of the Old Forest down by the waterfall. The feelings and emotions ran deep. Regrets for things not said, choices made. It was hard to not think about how things could have turned out differently. Perhaps one affected deepest was Oceanus. Oceanus Seaborn was a close friend and ally for our party for months. He owed his own life to their courage, and learned vital lessons with Lambert. Something awakened within him in this moment. Feeling responsible and at the same time feeling a rage towards Lambert's killers.   Oceanus has decided to continue to fight, and he will carry on the legacy of his teacher and friend. Additionally Winterfell the chaotic individual, motivated to stick to the party. After revealing some of his origin with William. Estranged family relationships, interested in the Forge not for the treasure and glory, as much as the rumors of having involvement and sightings of a dragon. Was it his brother who destroyed his family hamlet by joining with some draconic entity? Or a dragon who is connected and knows where his brother is? He was willing to fight alongside these people to find out.   An interesting note was found when examining the leader of the Orcish warband, his armor was made from blackened scales and a command word. William discovered through the Planar Library that the command word in draconic means "Become Weak" a trap a trigger given to these Nameless soldiers. A strategy that a cruel dragon would likely impose to ensure loyalty or to punish would be hunters enticed by the armor. But it does reveal that the Orcs do have a benefactor, and a powerful one at that.
