Episode 38: Through The Mountain Door Report

General Summary

Our heroes have infiltrated the first level of Khundrukar, the Mountain Door. Through their sneaking and investigation they saw the well stocked fortress the orcs were using. Also a body of a dead blackscaled dragonborn. Slightly cauterized wounds and a closer examination revealed that brain failure was the cause of death and died well before the wounds caused it.  Overhearing conversations revealed that "Umbra" had not left it's room. Leadership had been quiet.   Our heroes stumbled into a patrol, trying to pass off as orcs that captured prisoners, it was going well. Until a closer look revealed that these prisoners were still armed. Fighting ensued but perhaps not on the terms our heroes wanted. The patrol was definitely no match for them, but their job was simple, patrol and report, so they manage to retreat and gather attention from the nearby rooms and eventually spreading throughout the level. Now it was an uphill battle.    Some close calls and clever tactics to hold back the coming horde, retreating became an enticing option. A well placed illusion and darkness allowed the heroes to hide in the prison area and the orcs pursued the illusions.   Still breathing, it was clear to the heroes that they are in deep now. The only way for them is forward. Will they make it through this twisted dungeon to find Durgeddin the Black?
