Episode 54: A Dreaming Dark and Penance Report

General Summary

During the warm starry night in Dundorma a strange but familiar visitor met our heroes at the Naiad. Sanballat, a Scarlet Brotherhood member who the party had previously arrested, bonds paid by Xolec and now serves him. Sanballat extended a written invitation to join him for a dinner in Dugang in three weeks time. Sanbalet's appearance shows a significant change and appearance showing signs of being effected by Xolec. Sanballat expressed condolences for the death of Valcore. Xolec doesn't seem to be aware of what transpired to his agent besides the power granted to him being refunded to Xolec. Winterfell felt the emotional distance and for a moment realized how much Celeste means to him. For a moment he believed the connection to Celeste was gone forever. Crying out for the loss of his friend, the party still unable to communicate or understand just who this Celeste is offering a semblance of comfort. Tailiya managed to overcome Nightscale. enslaving her by the power of Umbra. Through questions, Nightscale realized it was enslaved by the creature in the water since it was a hatchling. Mentioning that for years it was a cog in the machine that this underwater entity desired. Bringing the Chaotic One to the city of Nadir, to bring about the summoning of the avatar Alatreon, the chaos elder dragon. Nightscale was also responsible for using the Forge and establishing a hoard for the benefit of the Sahuagin. The next morning, Valcore and Tailiya laid low, trying to avoid attention. Oceanus, William and Winterfell went to the Sapphire Light Wycandemy to study and look through its archives. It discovered and researched based on what they knew about Celeste, hints that the nature of Winterfell might be an advanced madness, induced by the embodiment of insanity, Tharizdun, who is known to feed and gain power through infecting others from madness. Said to be birthed and created through the imagination of the Whispered One, Hezak locked in perpetual imprisonment. They also learned that it could be connected to the Dreaming Dark, an organization linked to his Kalashtar heritage. the Dreaming Dark seeks to bring back the rebel Quori, the aliens that rebelled and sought to do good by assisting and aiding the humans that travelled the stars and help them arrive safely on Auriga. It was a lot to take in, but it seems that the restoration of the Chroma Conclave was likely an elaborate madness and twisting from Tharizdun. Lastly Tailiya, overwhelmed by feelings of responsibility and guilt for the beast within her murdering the noble couple from Xurugan. Decided to turn herself in to the Silverflame. Walking through the chapel like cobblestone halls, shining in the sunlight through the glass roof. She was asked to give up her weapon. Umbra was not willing to be parted.
