Episode 60: Battle for the Beast Report
General Summary
As our heroes attempt at obfuscating their approach on the Quaren flagship, the subjugated dragon turtle named Vor Kra, was a success they needed to come up with a plan to board the mighty beast as swiftly as possible. Oceanus’ recommendation to use the mist cloud as a forward smoke screen as the Naiad swung wide in a slingshot type maneuver was well received along with Capt Dreemurr’s orders to use their mighty new weapon, the acidic cannon, to take out as many aboard deck sahuagin as possible. Although the surprise worked, the angle of approach allowed for only a single shot to be fired, but with great effect. The repurposed head of Nightscale, the mighty black dragon that the foursaken themselves had slain, opened wide as a stream of acid burst forth slaying a great deal of unsuspecting sahuagin, their bodies melting where they stood.
With their surprise attack successful Tailiya quickly climbed the crowsnest and threw a grappling hook to the imposingly high upper deck atop Vor Kra’s massive shell and feather fell down to the deck of the Naiad, tying off the rope as a means to board the great beast. After ordering Bloody Bjorn and the crew to take the Naiad around front and fire at the Sahuagin controlled orcas the Foursaken made their way aboard Vor Kra slaying all enemies in their path. The decks ran green with Sahuagin blood as William, Winterfell and Freaf used area control and mass damage to gain control of the starboard side as Tailiya and Oceanus took the port side with targeted attacks, picking off their foes one at a time.
The victory seemed sure in hand until they made their way to the forward deck, only to discover the control collar, which the Quaren had used to control the mighty Vor Kra, was damaged to the point of breaking. Not only that but a mighty humanoid shark clawed his way on board. Standing 15 feet tall, their new opponent towered over even the unnerving tall Winterfell. It was clear this was no ordinary enemy. As he clawed and bit into William and Tailiya they could feel that there was something more to his bite than just the damage from his razor sharp teeth. There was something sinister and ancient accompanying it. Our heroes knew that victory would come at a great price. But it seems that the Ancient Shark, who had a missing left eye just like Iakhovas the General of the sahuagin, knew the same thing. Choosing not to risk death, even though he could easily take one or two of us out, he chose to cut his losses and run.
Freaf quickly ran to Tailya’s aid since she had been mauled viciously by the escaping the General as Winterfell used abjuration to repair the control collar. With imminent danger averted, Oceanus quickly ran to the crew quarters in hopes that not all of the Quaren onboard had been slain. Especially fearing the worst for his adoptive father, Chadrax Trukas. To his releaf there were some survivors along with Chadrax who had been poisoned by the sahuagin.
What were the Sahuagin’s plans for Vor Kra? What is this poison they use against aquatic creatures? What effect will Iakhovas’ bite have on the Foursaken? Find out in the next episode of Legends of Auriga!
