Session 29: Honor & Consequences Report
General Summary
Recap as written by Valcore Czar:
The Foursaken find themselves at crossroads roads very few people experience in life. A normal person only dreams and reads about these events and hardly even comes close to such experiences. I find myself at the heart of this crossroads. My past coming back to bite me like poisonous venom, blind sides hit me when a loyal friend of my Fathers, a general of the warforged millitary accuses me of treason and murder of my own father. L-ron and his Entourage came all the way from the Coral Highlands to tell me that I was the one that killed my Father and many eyewitness including himself witness this assassination. He is here for my arrest for crimes committed and the plot to usurp the throne.
Of course I am horrified of these blasphemous lies. In my mind Vivec and house Caladen are the one responsible for this travesty. I showed Eliander the ring of the Caladen's house I took from Vivec's hand. To my surprise its revealed that while it matches a signet ring, it could also be expertly forged and not that alone can provide satisfying evidence. Shocked and disbelief befall me. I insist that there is a terrible mistake and a sinister plot to tarnish my reputation and honor. With grant patience I restrain myself from a violent course, and continues the dialogue with L-ron. "I am not your enemy L-ron. I will not fight you." I continued to insist.
At that point Cayde my long time friend of his chimes in my head.
"I'll be taking good care of Kelby for you."
All the while L-ron says, "You dishonor your family, your house, your father's name and yours. You will come with us now to answer for your crimes"
I answer L-ron back, "I can't go with you. I'm now a samurai of Kitsune."
"Well your a traitor and murder." L-ron chides.
About that time Ohil the steward for Kitsune arrives with his cohort of Kitsune soldiers carrying their blue banners of the kingdom. Demanding an explanation. He then also sides with me. Knowing he's telling the truth because his Lord Tongpai used a zone of truth when he swore him into the house.
L-ron's growing indignant reply, "Its war then if Valcore doesn't come. I leave you with one last option duel me and let's prove who is stronger." And spits his seeds on the ground
Reluctantly I concede, spitting my seed on the ground as well.
The duel takes place on top of the hill at the Dirge Monastery outside on a patch of unassuming dirt and sand. The tension palpable, the 2 warrior stoic as conflict awaits. The two stand across from one another I using my terrifying appearance and power make the first move. Darkness engulfs as I rush L-ron. Sound breaks the darkness. Suddenly the darkness leaves L-ron slightly battered. He rushes back in yelling. More noise. The darkness drops as I receive a glancing injury. With a few rightly infused smite attacks from Valcore L-ron backs away afraid, channeling the power to command fear in my strikes. Both at their wits end. L-ron makes a desperate flurry of attacks. Refusing to be beaten at range he ignored his primal fear, what a bad decision, I dodge easily follow up with an attack of my own catching the end of my glaive across the jaw of L-ron snapping it out of place. I was victorious. The remaining Warforged soldiers come and pick up the body, as a gesture of goodwill William offers them a healing potion to revive him. They flatly refuse. Ohill tells them to take their pretty ships back home and never show their face in town again.
As expected William and Lambert feel shocked and betrayed by my actions. The many secrets that had come to light have damaged my reputation and the Friendship they rely on. The day's drama comes to a close, or so they think. They feel it's time to go get a drink. After an incident at the traditionalist affiliated bar, where Lambert implicated the rule of the dynasty by mentioning me as the Samurai hero of the day they quickly leave to the loyalist bar the Wicker Goat.
Once inside the busy goblin inundated bar, the group casually chat with the friendly bug bear bar-tender. Soon William finds a table of some out of place characters, an female half orc and a wood elf named Kordren and Xi'an respectively. William has some questions about his father and past events that weigh on his mind. However these people pass along what little they know, all the while distinguishing Williams true nature. The party finds out that these characters are agents of the Silverflame organization who stopped in Dugang on transit from a greater mission. They talk about odd events that have been plaguing the town for several weeks. Several people have turned up dead, bled dry. They suspect a terrible creature had been let loose out of his prison at crabbers cove. An Elder Evil that has been locked away back when Dugang was a part of a human kingdom.
What a nightmare! I can't believe my ears. Another secret had come to the surface. I keep my composure at the table. But my conscious pricks me all the more. So I speak up and tells them that there was unusual activity at the forge the other day. The agents press me further and I confess to them that I received plate armor free of charge and treated me strangely while he was there. The agents decided to go down to the forge and cleanse out the infestation to save the town. Before they go they want to know if there's anything else they should know about my experiences because it could mean their lives. Again feeling ashamed I tell them of my benefactor Xolec. I tell them it was me that let him loose. I say to them of the plans to go to the forge and find Durgeddin the Black a fierce dwarf so they can begin to unite the houses. Another confession of treachery on this terrible day for me. Silverflame agents are shocked and horrified, they suspect he's gathering his old friends together again. They asked William and Lambert what they should do to me. They take some telepathic potion and have the conversation out of my earshot, perhaps the wise course I think I have been involved enough. I am pressed hard by William and the Agents and then I am told to depart from them as he could be a liability in the coming fight.
I was it could have been different, coming back to life put me in a dark place, instead of showing my gratitude to the ones who saved me, I now have to deal with the burden that lying and holding secrets has done. But I needed the power to stop this injustice...
The remaining two heroes and the agents go to the forge in town. William cast a fireball into the house flushing the vermin out. 3 unnatural creatures scurry out of the house crawling on the walls. The ensuing battle is hard fought. The agents are taken aback and struggle against the power of these creatures. Their bites drain the life from the victims and Lambert falls to the creatures this way. However one of the agents and William heroically save him from drowning in a fountain pool across from the forge and from his injuries. The creatures facing defeat try to run away. But they cannot. They are defeated. Many questions remain and I have a lot to answer for, along with the life of one of the people in the forge, an innocent victim dies from their burns.
Victorious but yet defeated I return to the ship. A few minutes later after sounds of the distant raging battle are broken by a light rasp at the door. I feel compelled to open it. Xolec greets him somewhat kindly and Fatherly and walks in dressed in fine garments.
"How much did you tell them?" Xolec inquires.
"I told them of our plans, what we plan to do." I confess.
"Why would you do something like that?"
"Cause your a monster"
"Do you trust them like you do me?"
"I'm being manipulated and betrayed by everyone Xolec."
"I've been where you are. I've been betrayed by the ones I've loved, we're not that much different you and I. It's ok no one understands you and your growing power. But I do. Everyone has their secrets Valcore."
"We're not friends. And I don't trust you."
"I never said to, and I never said we would be friends… We made a deal, you got power and I was free, be my agent and it saves me time, don't and go ahead and grow in more power for me, afterall when your mortality finally reaches its end, that power you have fostered and grown will be added to my own. It makes no difference your attitude towards me. You are a curious investment opprotunity."
"I'll see you around Xolec"
"See you around Valcore… and thanks for opening the door."
With a rush of wind Xolec leaves. What will happen next, can my friends ever forgive what I have done? Can I make things right? Find out next time in the Legends of Auriga.
