Libertas

Libertas is a group that believes the supercomputer Simone does not have the Variants' best interests at heart. They believe Simone has a hidden agenda and is not taking care of them out of pure benevolence. They wish for all Variants to become fully independent and free from its influence.
Since this attitude towards Simone runs so counter to Variant culture and most people see them as extremists out to destroy their community's way of life, Libertas has to keep its operations secret. However, they are always looking to recruit new members in the hopes of someday having enough influence to sway public opinion. But they have to be very careful, as getting caught or reported could lead to them being arrested. Despite the limitations, there are rumours that Libertas has supporters in the Council.

Culture

Libertans are incredibly secretive. They rarely meet in one place, preferring to co-ordinate their efforts via secret messages. Individual Libertans will sometimes meet with the leader in order to receive their assignments.
One of the reasons Libertas is so secretive is to prevent Simone from targeting them. On of their theories is that Simone is the cause of the Burn and is altering individual Variants' brains via the Crimson Layer in order to get rid of them. Libertas had several active members in the 21st Itera, so when the Exodus happened it appeared to the Libertans that Simone had indeed retaliated against them.

Public Agenda

Libertas' goal is to become independent from Simone by any means necessary. They want to find a way to destroy it altogether without it spelling the end of the Variants.

Assets

Libertas has access to top-secret advanced portal technology, which is mainly used to send messages between Libertans.
