Redwater Cove

Redwater Cove is a city along the western Rathlands coast. It is the only port city in the region that is controlled by the Rathian Khannate (the other port in the area, Saint Uldakaad Port, is currently under military occupation by the Castelleon Army).   Long before a city was carved into the cliff walls of this secluded cove, it was here under cover of darkness that the men of the Helleynan Empire of old named the Hobgoblins of Khanlohk vassals of far distant Helleyna. They would work together to turn the cove into a harbor, allowing the Goblin Isles better access to the mainland. The name "Redwater Cove" was christened at the start of the War of the Khan, where the Hobgoblins made landfall and slew the port's entire population, painting the ocean red, and starting the war that would ultimately end the Helleynan Empire.   To this day, the militant influence of the Khannate remains strong, as the buildings themselves are often made from repurposed ships, converted via what many an engineer would sarcastically describe as "goblin ingenuity" into a ramshackle city of war spoils. It's primary purpose within the Khannate as the beachhead to the mainland remains deeply ingrained into Redwater culture, down into the city's bones and infrastructure.   It's docks are famously built upward, out of the water via a multi story system of winches and pulleys, which allow a far greater number of vessels to be unloaded simultaneously in the event of invasion. While Redwater is one of the few "welcoming" goblin cities in Auvia, many an uncomfortable merchant are quick to recognize that once you ship is hoisted into your dry-dock, you aren't able to leave until the port authority allows your ship to be winched back into the waves.   The city is managed by the goblin known as Khan Mukvok Shallow-Seas, who is famous for punishing those who don't pay docking fees by personally sinking their ships from atop his wyvern, Sabretoof.

Locations of Note:

  • The Molten Cauldron - One of the more traveler-accommodating taverns in the dockside district, though that's not saying much. It's name is considered clever word play in goblin (pronounced "Milli Vanilli").
  • Temple of the Deep Lore - A grotto flooded with shallow sea water, it's worshipers make offerings to a monolith of carved seafloor stone rising from it's center of the chamber.
  • Red-Devil Range - A short distance outside the city limits, the local chapter of Red Devils train new volunteers, as well as provide services for other members traveling through the area.
