The Raven Queen

The Raven Queen, sometimes referred to as "the Dark Matron" by her worshipers, is the mysterious goddess of twilight, winter, and the grave.
Little is written of her nature or will, but what is know is that she is the benevolent deity who resides over the recently deceased. She presides within the realm between life and death, known as the Shadowfell, where she guides the spirits of the dead into the realm beyond, where only the most powerful magics can reach, and no mortal soul can enter and hope to return.
In this task, she grants her patronage to those who serve the natural cycle of life and death. Morticians, grave diggers, and slayers of undead things are all said to be her chosen people. She is also worshiped by any who trace their origins to those who reside within the Shadowfell, such as the Shadar-Kai and Kenku.
It is a rare thing to hear tales or legends of the Raven Queen, who is said to be one of the least active deities on the material plane. She is rarely one to converse with her followers, nor is she said to perform much in the way of miracles. Some cosmologists even speculate as to her divine nature, citing inconsistencies within historical records as to when her divine power was first cited. Even rarer still, it is said by a select few, in hushed tones by flickering candlelight, that the truly blessed of the Raven Queen will only know of her boon on the day they were meant to leave this world, when they may stand beside her at the end of all things.
