Amartis' Approach
Celebrated every 8 months, Amartis' Approach is exactly what it says on the can. A celebration of the appearance of Avaleen's third moon Amartis in the sky. Since the world is round, the timing is not exactly unified across the globe of Avaleen as the moon's appearance and duration vary slightly from place to place. A year when it appears twice is considered lucky and those celebrations are usually much bigger.
The festivities last a week, or more in some places. Her presence in the sky is a sign of good fortune, and completeness as many feel that Avaleen is for a time at least whole and safe with all her guardians in place. There is much that is still unknown about Amartis and her effect on the planet. This celebration also sees the intense mobilization of researchers, archivists, and scribes flocking to vantage points to continue their research.
The third night of the festivities is called Lachraín, which is a night of mystery and magic when the veil between the worlds is thin. Participants don elaborate costumes and masks, engaging in masquerading balls, ghost storytellings, and communities set up nocturnal hunts for "hidden" treasures for the children.
The festival also features a ceremonial lighting of the Midnight Torch to ward off malevolent spirits.
Nice teaser article with more to discover.
