The Primordial War

The thousand year long war between the Titans and the Celestials that ended the first age of Avaleen and ushered in the Age of the Celestials. It was fought between 16050 BCE and 15050 BCE.

It is uncertain why the war broke out, for the elemental, primordial titans had welcomed the celestials to share their world. It is however theorized that it was due to the emergence of the various races of Avaleen; elves, dwarfes, humans, gnomes, giants, as well as the increasing presence of the fey in this realm.

The pantheon splintered at some point during this war, when a few of the gods switched sides. They were later exiled to a demiplane of shadows, and called the Fallen. Angry, they try to break free and some have managed to reach out into the world of Avaleen to wield their influence.

This war spelled the extinction of the titans, whose bodies merged once more with the earth that had birthed them. Their great forests were levelled and the ground was shattered into the continents we know today. Mesas still remain all across the world as remnants of the powers that once walked the earth.
