Overview

The Andrake-Deregh (also known as the Archadean Kobolds) are an ethnicity of Kobold indigenous to the Silver Valleys of Σu'ryxia. Known for possessing darker, tougher scales than that of the Nexendrake Kobolds, the Andrake-Deregh are tribal creatures, untouched by modern magics and perfectly preserved within their native Kingdom of Dereg'mal. Deregh society is mostly equal, with only a few instances of hierarchy, with superiors being that of the tribe chiefs and the King of Dereg'mal. Every member of the community takes part in hunts and foragings to sustain the tribes and helps expand their village. The reason this tribal society is so effective is due to the fact that the Archadean Kobolds thrive off of synergy, and prefer working in packs rather than being alone. Under the chieftain's rule, the Kobolds will be given a task and will complete it quickly and efficiently to the best of their ability.

History

According to Kobold legend, long after the first age of Dragons had been torn asunder, a new age was born. Those Dragons that survived the wrath of the gods did so by nestling deep into mountainsides and sacrificing their power for servants: servants who could transform Avalǿn into a new world and restore the glory of the fallen Dragons. It is told that, around 15,000 years ago, the legendary Dragoness Caeseneighstjahte ripped one of her scales from her body and shaped it into the first Kobold, Kerbalmache, a hardy draconic creature that would work tirelessly at her service. The Dragoness instructed Kerbalmache to dig out the entirety of the Daristris Mountains, as to make a lair for herself and use the riches from the ores to have the largest hoard of any dragon in Archadea. At first, this was deemed an impossible task, but with the ingenuity and ambition of the Kobold, Kerbalmache invented the pickaxe and began to mine through Mount Surguroth.   As Caeseneighstjahte became richer, she ripped out more of her scales and transformed them into brothers and sisters for Kerbalmache, to help him excavate the mountains quicker. Together, the Kobolds formed a primitive society underneath the Dragoness, creating settlements in the mountainside, minecart systems and railroad tracks to transport the ores throughout Daristris and blazing forges to extract the metals from their cages of stone; ready to be added to Caeseneighstjahte's growing hoard. Once the entirety of the mountain range had been dug out, the Dragoness, pleased with the work of the Kobolds, freed them, and made Kerbalmache the God of the Kobolds.   For the next few hundred years, the Kobolds wandered the breadth of Archadea until they finally found their sanctuary: Achuak'arux - 'The Green Valley'. Here the Kobolds built up a new society, independent from the Dragons.

Religion

Andrake-Deregh beliefs revolve around the great Kobold god, Kerbalmache, who, long ago, was created as a servant to the legendary Dragon Caeseneighstjahte. Armed with ambition and determination, Kerbalmache and his brothers mined out the Daristris Mountains to please their mistress. Eventually, when the Meverith Gnomes were created, Kerbalmache and the Kobolds enslaved them into working for Caeseneighstjahte as well. Pleased with the riches they had amassed for her, the Dragoness freed the Kobolds as a favour for their service, resulting in Kerbalmache leading his brothers on a pilgrimage to find their new home: Achuak'arux, the Green Valley, told about only in Kobold legend. It is said that when a Deregh lives a good, honest life in service to their chieftain, they ascend to Achuak'arux upon death, where they can spend the rest of eternity hunting with Kerbalmache and their fallen clan members.
