Elkas is a Half-Elf, born in the city of Iris to the Rosalore family, a prolific household of authors and journalists. He is the grandson of the famed fiction writer Leopold Rosalore, greatly acclaimed for his magic infused adventure books that would tell the tales of heroes in the realm, and his father Reuben is a journalist who would eventually break away from his father's fiction books to document the real heroes in Σu'ryxia. His mother, Aliviel Syl Faen, was the only member of the family to not become a bookworm, instead preferring nature over people.
The young Rosalore absolutely adored his Peepaw Leopold, and would visit him often along with his father (as the great writer lived quite a secluded life down in the Forgotten Wealds. On one particular trip, when Elkas was still a child, he was taking a shortcut through the Evrean Highlands with his father after hearing word of his Peepaw becoming ill, when the group he was travelling with were suddenly ambushed by a Adult White Dragon. The massacre was bloody, leaving every other member of the caravan mauled or frozen, but him and his father survived thanks to the help of a wild Drake who distracted the Dragon whilst Elkas and his dad made their escape. Upon making it to the observatory, the young Elkas excitedly told his Peepaw about the event, in which Leopold, touched and inspired by his grandson's endeavours, began writing his final fable: the Song of Elkas Rosalore.
Sadly, Leopold died before he could finish the book, though left it to Elkas in his will, in hopes that the young adventurer could see the world for himself and complete the final chapter. During his final trip to his grandfather's observatory, Elkas stumbled across the Drake again in the Evrean Highlands - a meeting that can't have been pure coincidence. An inseparable bond quickly formed between the two, with Elkas naming his new lifelong companion 'Gudhi'.
Now, with a quill in one hand and a bow in the other, Elkas and Gudhi roam the continent in search of adventure, scribing their own destiny.
